If you are anywhere near my age, you might remember the old Alka-Seltzer commercials with the phrase, “I can’t believe I ate the whole thing!” Alka-Seltzer, you may know is a remedy for indigestion. So is mindfulness.

Being mindful and developing Inner Wisdom is, in part, knowing how certain foods, certain amounts, and certain combinations affect you. Foods you may think you love may not love you back. Being mindful means noticing when the foods you eat, or the drinks you drink, don’t agree with you and then making a thoughtful, mindful decision about whether to consume it again. \

Do the foods you choose agree with you? Are you ignoring your body’s signals that something is not right because you want to keep eating? How does your body communicate with you when it likes or dislikes something? And, are you willing to put down a food that does not agree with you?
