Wondering if you can drink your smoothie or protein shake while doing other things, like working on your computer? Good question! In a previous blog, I mentioned that sipping a cup of tea or coffee or lemonade, etc. while doing something else could be an acceptable mindful practice if you are noticing the sips as you take them. When it comes to smoothies or protein shakes, though, I would encourage you to enjoy them without distraction. Smoothies and protein shakes tend to be snacks or meals, and it is important to practice mindful eating with snacks and meals.

That being said, if you are pressed for time and you are hungry and are choosing to have a smoothie or a protein shake while doing something else, be mindful about it. Recognize that you are making this choice, and do your best to sip your smoothie or a protein shake, noticing its taste, texture, etc.

In other words, for the brief moment that you are drinking your smoothie, pay attention. Only takes a few seconds, but those few seconds can make a difference and help you maintain your efforts to be a mindful eater.
