Have you ever said to yourself, “I get tired of chewing while I eat mindfully, what’s up with that?” I’ve heard this before. I’ve even experienced it myself from time to time. When we eat mindfully, we naturally eat slower, and when we eat slower, it takes more time; therefore, we do more chewing.

Those of us who eat quickly (myself included) tend to eat without paying attention, gobbling down our food without chewing very much. Now that you are a mindful eater, you’re chewing more and you might get tired. This is actually good news. I’ve learned from my own experience that when I feel tired of chewing it means I’m coming to the end of my eating. In other words, I feel like I’ve had enough.

Could that be what your chewing fatigue is telling you?
