Today, I want to you to check in with how tuned in you are with your body. If you have been practicing checking into see not only how hungry you are but also how food (and drink) feels within your body you are truly a mindful eater. Making the decision to pay attention in the way that mindful eating requires is a big commitment. Truthfully most people can’t be bothered. They would rather find a diet, be told what and how much to eat, and be on their way. Perhaps you were like that too. I know I was, until I wasn’t. Until I truly understood that the only way to have a healthy relationship with food and be at the weight that was right for me was to give up dieting completely and embrace mindful eating, I was like the others. Tuning into my body and giving myself time to learn how my body communicates with me was quite a challenge. But I hung in there, and I hope you did too. Becoming acquainted with and then BFF’s with my Inner Wisdom was the greatest gift I have ever given myself. Maybe you feel the same. If you are not there yet, no worries. Being a mindful eater is a lifelong mission, so you still have plenty of time to get good at it. Just keep practicing. Adapted from Mindful Bites – Joyful Life: 365 Days of Mindful Eating.
