I discovered a mantra, affirmation, prayer, call it what you wish, that helped me as I moved along my mindful eating path. Before each meal or snack, after I centered myself, spent a few moments getting in touch with my Inner wisdom, and took a few deep breaths, I would say to myself, “This is the right food, in the right amount, for my body, right now.” Repeating this short sentence assured me that I am okay, and my choices are okay. This sentence had a calming effect on me and led to greater satisfaction and often smaller portions because I was so tuned into my Inner Wisdom. To this day, I repeat this reassuring statement to myself often. It is working for m, maybe it will work for you too. Adapted from Mindful Bites – Joyful Life: 365 Days of Mindful Eating.
