In a previous blog, we looked at mindless eating. In this post, I’d like to shed light on where else in your life you are being mindless. In other words, where in your life are you acting strictly out of habit when that habit may no longer serve you. Examples of mindless habits include:
- Texting while driving
- Taking the same route to work every day
- Always making a coffee run at 3 pm
- Buying items because they are on sale
- Wearing the same shoes every day
When we are mindless in our life, we miss out on the subtle joys that life has to offer. If you are willing, choose one mindless habit you have, and put your awareness on it. Question it. Do you still need it? If yes, why? If yes, how could you be more aware while doing it? If no, are you willing to let it go, or replace it with a habit that would serve you better?
