Have you ever attended a meditation retreat? As part of my training to become an MB-EAT instructor, as well as, part of my growth as a meditator, I have had the opportunity to participate in daylong and silent retreats. I am aware that not everyone has the time, resources or interest to attend a fancy retreat. The good news is that you don’t have to go on an expensive or lengthy one to enjoy its benefits. You can have a retreat right at home. To do that, set aside a period of time when you can be left undisturbed. It could be an hour, a half a day, a whole day or even a weekend, whatever suits you. Prepare to spend this time meditating (sitting, walking, whatever you like), mindfully eating, gently exercising (yoga, stretching, Pilates) reading, bathing, listening to music, even napping if you please. Use this special time to go be with yourself, to go within and feel peace and quiet. This is your time to honor and celebrate yourself. Enjoy it. You deserve it. If you were to create a retreat like this for yourself, what would you do? Please write your comments below.
