Expanding Mindfulness to the Rest of Your Life
Over the past several weeks, I introduced the first four steps of the 5-Step TAME Your Appetite Program. I created this program in response to requests for a quicker way to get started than the complete 12-Session program. This blog post concludes the five-step plan by encouraging you to use mindfulness to enhance other areas of your life. When you approach all of life in a mindful way (i.e., while washing dishes, exercising, cooking or doing chores around the house), you increase your overall wellness and happiness. For example, if you practice being mindful (meaning being present and attentive) while sitting at a traffic light or on hold with the cable company, traffic is easier to tolerate, and the cable company stops being public enemy number one. And, the more you practice, the easier it gets to be mindful and the more you benefit, especially when it comes to your weight. Being mindful is not hard, it just takes practice. How do you feel about practicing mindfulness?
