A daily meditation practice is essential if you want to truly trust yourself to know when, what and how much to eat. Here are three tips to help you make your practice a wonderful daily experience.

  1. Come to your session with an attitude of non-judgment. Your session will be what it is. Just sit. Set your timer. Close your eyes and follow your breath.  When the timer chimes, congratulate yourself for sitting and go on with your day.
  2. When your mind wanders, and it will, simply note the nature of your thought and bring your focus back to your breath. For example, if you find yourself thinking about something you need to do tomorrow, label that thought “planning” and go back to the breath.
  3. Keep a meditation log. Make notes about your sessions so you can see your progress as you continue your practice.
