The foundation for mindful eating awareness is a daily meditation practice. The purpose of this practice is to get you into the habit of meditating daily.
Take a photograph of something that you’re about to eat before you eat it. Look at the photograph and ask yourself, (1) does this food look appetizing (2) is this food that I genuinely want to eat or is it something that I’m eating because it’s available or prescribed, and (3) would I be happy sharing this photograph with someone else?
At the heart of mindful eating training is mindfulness meditation. If mindfulness is about awareness, then mindfulness meditation is about becoming aware of what your mind is doing.
