Equanimity is a great Scrabble word. It is also a great state of mind. Equanimity means calmness, composure, and levelheadedness. In a world filled with stress, uncertainty and pain, learning to cultivate equanimity is very helpful. You can use your meditation practice as tool develop it by choosing to focus your attention on the following thoughts: “Things are as they are. May I accept things as they are.” Repeating these phrases to yourself can help still a worried mind. When you calm your mind, you reduce the need to eat to soothe yourself.
