In my mindful eating programs, I teach the concept of Outer Guidance. By Outer Guidance, I mean reliable, valuable information about the nutritional content and health implications of food. Such information comes from renowned medical and scientific authorities and not from the latest diet guru.
Through Outer Guidance, you get an education about the foods you eat and how to incorporate such health and nutrition information into your new mindful eating habits. Outer Guidance is different than “going on a diet” because you do not follow a prescribed set of rules, instead you decide for yourself which foods serve your needs best thereby developing your own unique approach to food. By cultivating Outer Guidance, you can give up diets forever. How about giving it a try?
Find one reputable source of nutritional and health information on a topic relevant to you. For example, if you have high blood pressure, you might look at what the American Heart Association has to say. Apply what you learn to see what serves you and your body best. Are you game?
